![]() I came across some Ice Cream flavored "sugar free" candies the other week. I had no idea that such flavors existed in sugar free. I'm not diabetic, but I started having small cavities about a year ago, and others who come to me for their sweet source are trying to tone down on the sugar, so I figured I'd try this out.
These sugar free Baskin Robbin candies also come in Cookies and Cream, Praline's Delight and according to their website, Mango Delight ice cream flavors. Of course the candies won't taste like real ice cream, but does like creamy candy. Surprisingly, it also tastes like real sugar candy. Supposedly "sugar free" gum at least help promote healthy gum and teeth, and sugar free candies help with not eating cavity promoting candies. However, supposedly artificial sweeteners, have health drawbacks, some supposedly being carcinogens since it is manually produced by "harmful" chemicals verses natural sweetening from real sugar. Others argue, that there's no scientific evidence that these artificial sweeteners cause cancer or damage. So it's a two sided debate. Regardless, anything in excess can't be healthy. So far I eat these occasionally and haven't noticed any health side effects. Personally I rather have things natural, because I think it's generally healthy verses eating chemicals, but that's just my personal opinion.
