Back in my college years, I had to get creative to make the ideal meal and dessert.. thus the Warm Apple Cinnamon Maple Syrup Crunch Ice Cream Sundae I invented on campus.
I was at brunch on day.. and after stuffing myself with eggs, hash browns, pancakes, and all that good stuff, I had a craving for dessert. There wasn't anything I liked, I also was not used to eating the food that they had, and the vanilla ice cream seemed pretty plain. So I looked around, and it dawned on me that the warm cinnamon apple and the 100% maple syrup, that they provide for pancakes, might actually taste good with vanilla ice cream, for a sundae treat.
I scooped the vanilla ice cream in a bowl, scooped about a cup full of cinnamon apples, dumped them on the ice cream, squirted on whip cream, and drizzled 100% maple syrup it all over. Sometimes they'd have the granola clusters cereal and I'd top the ice cream sundae with it. The flavor is a tasty sweet combination of warm and cold (like apple pie with vanilla ice cream), and the texture is a combination of creamy and crunchy. Mmmm.
