When I was young, it confused me to hear things like "I want to eat Chinese." because I never said "I want to eat Americans." It got even stranger hearing people say "I smell Chinese" and it made me wonder if I smelled like "Asian." Don't get me wrong, I am an American and I do understand now what people mean. Fast forward to a few years ago, I came across a few bottles of flavored sauces, some of them being the typical herb flavors and one of them was labeled flavored "Asian." I couldn't help but crack up, which caused a stranger to look at me in shock like I was insane. The "Asian" blend was soy sauce, ginger, etc. I haven't tried it but the ingredients sounds like something we would put in an Asian dish for meat or rice, but not necessarily the main ingredients to all Asian dishes. I also wouldn't want to consume a lot due to high salt content of soy sauces.
