A few years ago when I went to an American dollar store, I came across these dissolving mint paper-like strips, (like Listerine's). I was curious where it was made from and it turns out that it was made from Japan. Being a fan of nifty Japanese candies, stationary and technologies, I had to try them. For those of you who never had mint strips, they are thin sheets of "mint" that has the feel like rice paper (from those Asian candies), and a texture of smooth/shiny on your tongue. They dissolve/melt in your mouth almost instantly. If I'm correct, I think Listerine was the first company to make mint strips years ago, sugar free and designed to kill germs like their trade mark Listerine, (but non-toxic of course). Listerine even created nifty key chains for convenience, which you can slip the plastic dispensers in and carry. Several companies followed after wards making regular mint strips as an alternative to gum and fresh mints, none other that I've seen killing germs. You can find them in the candy/gum aisle in an American grocery store or drug store. I got these "Cynnamon" flavored strips for a dollar at the dollar store ;) and they were slightly different in consistency in comparison to Listerine's.. still smooth, maybe thicker and dryer, so slower dissolved. The cinnamon flavor itself was slightly different than the typical cinnamon flavor that you get in candy in the U.S., but in a good way.
