Experiment doesn't look so bad, and it sure is tasty. Kid tested & approved. :) After my NYC trip to the Food Festival about 2 years ago, I had a craving for fried dough. I don't know how they make it soo good, but it probably had to do with the process of the dough.. maybe with yeast? I haven't played around with yeast since foods class in middle school, so just to be on the safe side, I improvised several recipes into my own. Mixed some flour, a pinch or two of baking soda, milk, some sugar, and flavor extract (such as rum). I think it is 1/2 cup of milk to 1 cup of milk or enough until mix mixed becomes a pasty, moist dough mixture that can be poured. Because canola oil is the healthier oil, (with Omega-3 fats), I used it instead of vegetable oil, with unhealthy fats. Also because too much of any cooking oil is also not good (due to saturated fats), I only layered a pan about half inch of oil instead of deep frying. Heat it until really hot and ready to fry. Pour or scoop mixture into a circular shape, and flip over frying so it would be even. After golden, place on plate (preferably with paper towel), let it dry/cool, and top with strawberries, banana and confectioner (powered) sugar. You can top with other fruits.. or if you're feeling like fried pizza, top with pizza sauce, and toppings. There we go. A 9 year old tried it and loved it. Enjoy!
