You've probably heard by now of the volcano Iceland, (that nobody can really pronounce), that erupted a few weeks ago and held up the airlines. Ever wonder what Icelandic music sounds like? The Icelandic language and music sounds very unique, but very awesome. The first time I heard of Bjork, was a few years ago on on Launch.com (before Yahoo Music bought it), in the "Chillout" station. "Joga" is sung in English, but you can tell by the accent, vocals, and the tune, that it is not the typical music that you would hear in the United States. The clip is the official music video of "Joga" with what looks like the scenery of what Iceland looks like. When I first looked Bjork up, I thought she Asian; I couldn't guess what ethnicity she was, but then discovered she's Icelandic. I was curious to find out what other Icelandic music sounded like, and to my discovery, Bjork had a pretty diverse genre of songs that she sings. She was in some sort of a rock band it sounds, singing songs that sound similar to 80s music back in the day, also rock, pop, and other genres you also find in the United States. Pretty awesome. Jonsi is another Icelandic artist. The music video is pretty bizarre, but colorful and intriguing. It is sung with some English mixed in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6HjT4SQKJI Here's Agent Fresco with an awesome performance of a rock song at the Live Icelandic Music Awards 2009. Enjoy the clips!
