The first time I heard this "Olio" by The Rapture was on Yahoo Music's "Sweaty Indie Dance Party" station. I thought it was a very unusual song, with high pitched vocals that's dramatically bizarre, but I really liked it. There's other versions of "Olio" out there (still by The Rapture) on the internet, such as a more rock version, but this live performance on YouTube is the version I heard first, and is my favorite version. It is more electronic, starting off with the emphasis on a lead keyboard with piano-like instrumentals, making it more dramatic. Then the intro lyrics "I called you on the telephone, 'cus I was lonely..", pretty much sets the mood of the song, in which I then figure, is about a person agonizing about a love. Another song by The Rapture that is also really catchy and equally dramatically bizarre but happy upbeat is "I Need Your Love." It is also electronic. The clip below is a very lively live performance and there's a saxophone in there, which I think is genius. Enjoy the clips!
