Not exactly food, but I was prescribed this optional cough syrup awhile ago.  I've never seen such bio-hazard looking warning sign on a cough syrup bottle, labeled bright yellow and red on a bright orange red bottle, and thought to myself, this is bizarre and this can't be healthy. 

Reading the cough syrup bottle disclaimer "May Cause Dizziness" and "Taking More of This Medication Than Recommended May Cause Serious Breathing Problems" is enough to make me want to run for the hills, especially when I was having breathing problems already.

But I took a chance, because that is what the doctor ordered as an option to suppress my cough, plus... I was curious of how nasty this would taste. As soon as I opened the bottle, and sniffed it, it was like a hard kick of chemicals up my nose.  Cough syrup to the maximum power.

As for the taste test, it tasted more potent than the smell and my first commentary and thought on that was "It tastes like death."  It tasted like cough syrup times 100 in potency loaded with chemicals.  I semi-screamed, coughed and gagged in discontent, then refused to take much more after that dose.  As effective as it might be, I didn't need it that bad, and I didn't trust that it was very wholesome.  At the time, I felt I needed to cough out whatever was stuck in my lungs instead of suppressing it.
