Perfection of the Ruse
By Markus Pope
submitted on: 1999

Butterflies dancing around a midsummer sun
Elated and desiring that compassionate one
Touring the day in search of souls to mate
Hearts pounding and praying into the late
Course of the night that brings dark to day
Over wayward lovers who have lost their way
Longing to unite hearts and spark fire for
Verses written to hide the desire and lore
Intent on publishing the thoughts of a muse
No one suspects to perpetrate the ruse
