Strawberry Kisses
By Markus Pope
submitted on: 1999

I ran out into the front yard
Looked up at the sky
I threw my head back
And started to cry

Held my hands above my head
With you cupped inside
Opened my hands to let you go
You flew away, my heart died

I melted down into the sand
As I watched you fly away
I told myself I was alright
I couldn't love you anyway

Night after night I stay up late
Wondering what went wrong
I tell myself I knew you'd leave
And that I knew it all along

Mostly n'w I'm apathetic
Mind and soul is listless
Now and again, I think of you
And I miss your strawberry kisses
