To Whom It May Concern
By Markus Pope
submitted on: 1999

To whom it may concern,

No one understands the words escaping my mind
My body's going forward, while my mind's in rewind
No one seems to comprehend the ideas that I share
The body is interacting, but the thinker's unaware

So, I see your lips are moving and sometimes there is a sound
I may even answer questions, but I'm truly not around
At the end of conversation', I'm often at a loss
Did you ask of me a question or just tell me to get lost?

I try to say stuff simply and the words all come out long
My mind keeps stuff nice and straight, it's my mouth that does me wrong
You'll hear me babbling to myself, I don't do it to draw the crowd
It's because there's so much noise inside, I have to think aloud

You seem to know your languages, you speak your words with ease
From the looks upon your f'ces y'u'd think I'm speaking Japanese
So clarifi'ation is what I'm seeking by the recording of this ode
Transposition of my jumbled thoughts and broken cryptic code

If you happen to see me on the street don't bother gesturing a sound
Chan'es are great that I'm lost inside, my body's just wandering around
But, uh, if you should see me in the path of a big truc' or open grate
I'd appreciate just a little nudge to set my body straight

Thank you,

Markus Pope
